In Aktau the series of games in the frame of Kazakhstan Basketball Championship among men's teams of the National League, between «Caspian» and «Astana» has come to the end.
The capital club gained victory in two games. In the first match, the team of Mikhail Karpenko from the first minutes began to actively attack the opponent's glass and by the end of the first period had a solid advantage + 16 points. The second quarter also brought no changes to the general scenario of the game. «Astana» continued to dominate both in the attack and in defense, and the difference in the score grew with each throw. As a result of the first half of the match, the score on the scoreboard was 23:50 in favor of Astana team. After a long break, when Astana was more confident in their victory, sit lightly slowed down the game pace, thereby giving the opportunity to catch up, but still continued to control the game. In the second period, the capital team began to significantly break away, and by the end of the first half of the match, it secured 10 points of advantage — 37:47. The third period also passed under the control of «Astana», the capital team earned another +10 points and went to the final quarter with a margin of + 20 points. In the fourth period, the team of Mikhail Karpenko continued to confidently make their way to victory, and the hosts could not do anything about it. Basketball players of «Astana» won the match with the score — 65:94.
The most effective players of «Astana»: Larry Gordon — 19 points, Alexander Zhigulin — 15 points and Vadim Shcherbak — 11 points.
Thus, «Astana» ended the regular championship of Kazakhstan without a single defeat. There is the playoff series of the National League ahead of the team, which starts on April 5 with a half-final stage.
After Aktau, the capital club heads to Nizhny Novgorod, where on Sunday, March 18 it will play with the same-named club in the championship of the VTB United League.
